JapAura

A Mindful Nam Jap Companion for Daily Spiritual Practice — A mobile application designed to help users track mantra repetitions, maintain consistency, and build a mindful daily routine through a simple and immersive experience.

JapAura

01 / OVERVIEW

JapAura is a Nam Jap counter application built to support users in maintaining a consistent spiritual practice.

It combines traditional mala counting (108 beads), progress tracking, and minimal interaction into a modern mobile experience.

The goal was to create a system that is simple, calm, and consistent.

02 / PROBLEM

Maintaining a daily spiritual routine can be difficult in a distraction-heavy environment.

Key challenges include a lack of consistency (users skip practice), manual counting limitations (no long-term visibility), and poor digital alternatives (overcomplicated or distracting interfaces).

Result: Users struggle to build a consistent and mindful practice.

03 / SOLUTION

JapAura introduces a minimal, distraction-free digital companion for Nam Jap using tap-based counting and automatic mala tracking.

Core approach: Tap anywhere to count, automatic milestone tracking (108 counts), and gentle sensory feedback (vibration + sound).

Result: A system that encourages consistency through simplicity and historical insights.

04 / FEATURES

  • Tap-based mantra counting
  • Automatic mala completion (108 counts)
  • Vibration and bell feedback on completion
  • Daily and historical progress tracking
  • Streak tracking system
  • Dynamic themes for different mantras
  • Weekly and monthly statistics graphs

06 / DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

"Spiritual tools should reduce distraction, not add to it."

JapAura is designed around minimal interaction and a calm visual experience to ensure every element supports mindfulness and flow.

The interface deliberately avoids complex navigation and visual noise.

07 / USER EXPERIENCE

The app is designed to feel effortless and immersive: tap anywhere to count, no buttons or clutter, and visual progress through circular indicators.

Sensory feedback (vibration on completion, bell sound for milestones) creates a rewarding and engaging experience.

08 / IMPLEMENTATION

JapAura is built using Flutter for a smooth mobile experience with local storage via SharedPreferences for offline usage.

Key details: Custom UI rendering using CustomPainter and efficient state handling for daily and historical data.
